Instrument Plastics
Instrument Plastics specialises in the designing and manufacturing of various Optical, RFI and Infrared Filters for electronic displays. Opening its doors in 1987, the advanced engineering expertise of the company has lead to the development of a vast range of products. With 40 dedicated employees including a thermoset casting department for manufacturing high quality optical filters from optical HSR and Acrylics. A special casting department working with a full service CNC machine shop, EMC shielded windows, inspection systems, assembly division and screen print facilities is also operational. Instrument Plastics is a leading force in the supply of Optical Filters in the UK and customers worldwide. We also deal in EMC Shields, RFI Shields, optical filters, laminated filters, electronic displays and infrared filters.
EMC Shield
An EMC Shield is an electromagnetic compliant shield that shields electronic components and prevents them escaping beyond the EMC shield. An EMC shield Optolite IR is an infrared acrylic filter that has a broad band and transmits infra red radiation. This form of EMC shield is suitable for use in photometric systems which work in environments with high levels of radiation. The EMC shield Optolite IR eliminates the visible spectrum and effectively improves the system by increasing the signal-to-noise ratio. Typical applications for this type of EMC shield include security systems, presence sensing devices, proximity sensors and scanners. Features of this type of EMC shield include excellent transmittance and a non-glare finish.
EMC shield cuts down unwanted front surface reflections with EMC shield filters in thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0mm. Various EMC shield thicknesses and tight tolerances are also available. Instrument Plastics Limited is an EMC shield Authorised Distributor for polarising filters and custom-made EMC shield polarising and EMC shield non-polarising filters that help optimise the readability of electronic displays.
The EMC shield can be produced to customer specifications and there is a short delivery time for the EMC shield. Typical customers that use EMC shield material are corporations working in aerospace, defence, science, medicine, electronics, stress analysis and the photographic industries.
RFI shield
AgHT is used as an RFI shield and for infra red reflection applications. AgHT's has an amazingly unique combination of visible light transmission, neutral colour and low electrical resistance which makes it the perfect RFI shield for electronic displays and for membrane switches. RFI shield AgHT film transmits visible light while reflecting infra red heat. Products which use these optical characteristics of the RFI shield include projector lamp RFI shield, theatrical RFI shield lighting filters and RFI shield windows.
A range of metal meshes are woven to create the RFI shield including stainless steel, blackened stainless steel and blackened copper. The mesh for the RFI shield can be supplied separately or incorporated to create a tailor-made RFI shield.
The RFI shield is an electromagnetic shield that prevents escape beyond the EMC shield. The RFI shield uses broad band acrylic filters that have been formulated especially for the RFI shield. Optolite infrared is used by the RFI shield and is suitable for photometric systems and for systems that require the RFI shield to shield high levels of radiation. Other specific applications of the RFI shield include remote controls, security systems, sensors and scanners.
Optical Filter
An optical filter shields electronic components and prevents them escaping. An EMC shield Optolite IR is an infrared acrylic optical filter that is suitable for use with high levels of radiation. This form of optical filter improves the system by increasing the signal-to-noise ratio. Typical uses for an optical filter include security systems and sensing devices. Features of this type of optical filter encapsulate a non-glare finish.
An optical filter cuts down unwanted reflections and includes polarising filters and non-polarising filters that optimise electronic displays. An optical filter can be produced to customer specifications with customers typically coming from industries such as aerospace, science, medicine, defence, electronics, and the photographic industries.

Electronic Display
The electronic display is an electromagnetic shield that has an infrared acrylic filter for the electronic display. This form of electronic display is used in photometric systems which work where there are high levels of radiation. The electronic display eliminates the visible spectrum and improves the signal-to-noise ratio. Typical uses include bank cash machines, security systems, and sensing devices. The principal feature of the electronic display is the combination of excellent transmittance and a non-glare finish.
The electronic display reduces unwanted front surface reflections by using filters in thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0mm. Various electronic display thicknesses and light tolerances are available. Instrument Plastics Limited is an authorised distributor of electronic display filters and custom-made electronic display polarising shields. The company also distributes non-polarising electronic display filters that optimise the electronic displays for clarity.
The electronic display shield can be manufactured to customer specifications. Typical industries using this type of electronic display are aerospace, medicine, electronics, and the photographic industry.
In everyday living the electronic display plays a key role in people’s lives from computer screens to the electronic display screens at cash points.
Infrared filter
An infrared filter shields electronic components and the infrared filter can be used where there are levels of radiation. The infrared filter is an optical filter that boosts the signal-to-noise ratio. Typical uses of an infrared filter are security systems, sensing devices and remote controls.
The infrared filter is an optical filter that can be produced to customer requirements and is common in industries such as aerospace, medicine, electronics, and photography.
An infrared filter is a combination of light transmission and electrical resistance. The infrared filter transmits light. The infrared filter is used in every walk of life because the infrared filter is a filter that removes visible light and only allows infrared light to pass through the infrared filter. The infrared filter has so many applications and uses because of its unique properties. Today, every TV has a remote control with an infrared filter. Every remote control for the DVD player has an infrared filter. The remote control for the Digital box has an infrared filter. In fact, the uses for the infrared filter are almost unlimited.
